History of Republic of Pakistan

Shelf by nono umasy
The history of the Republic of Pakistan is marked by a blend of cultural, political, and military events since its creation in 1947 following the partition of India. The driving force behind its formation was the demand for a separate homeland for Muslims, led by Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the All-India Muslim League, to avoid Hindu majority rule. Pakistan initially comprised two geographically and culturally distinct areas, East and West Pakistan, with the latter becoming independent Bangladesh in 1971 after a brutal civil war. Pakistan has experienced several military coups, and its political landscape has been dominated by military and civilian leaders alternately. Its history is also shaped by its involvement in regional conflicts, notably with neighboring India, and its strategic role in global politics, particularly during the Cold War and the War on Terror. The country has faced challenges like political instability, economic struggles, and social issues, but it remains a key player in South Asian and global affairs.
