Nine Years' War

Shelf by nono umasy
The Nine Years' War (1688–1697), also known as the War of the Grand Alliance or the War of the League of Augsburg, was a major conflict between France under Louis XIV and a coalition of European powers, including England, the Dutch Republic, the Holy Roman Empire, Spain, and others. Sparked by French expansionist policies, the war was fought across Europe, North America, and the Caribbean. It ended with the Treaty of Ryswick in 1697, which restored pre-war territorial boundaries but marked the decline of French dominance in Europe. The war also set the stage for the War of Spanish Succession (1701–1714).
